OQ, the global integrated energy group, and SAP global technology company signed an MoU for new cloud-based solutions and activities, at the COMEX technology event, Muscat. The partnership will explore the viability of migrating OQ’s SAP IT systems and portfolio of assets to SAP’s leading ERP platform and explore other digital innovation initiatives.

At the signing, Maryam Al Shaibani, VP Integrated Digital Solutions, OQ said, “As we continue to grow and diversify our operations, it is important for OQ to have an integrated system that is scalable, flexible, and future-proof. We are working with SAP to explore how its solutions could help us to achieve this goal. We are also collaborating on ways to narrow the digital skills gap in Oman through SAP virtual training programmes.”

Among the SAP solutions that OQ will be exploring to transform its current business processes is SAP S/4HANA - enterprise resource planning with embedded advanced technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and process automation.

"Leveraging SAP’s leading-edge solutions, OQ will significantly increase its digital maturity, agility, and resilience. Importantly, our companies’ shared commitment to addressing the digital skills gap in Oman is aligned with our continued support for Oman Vision 2040. SAP's training programs aim to empower the Omani workforce, paving the way for a robust, digitally skilled talent pool that can drive the country's economic development forward in the digital era,” said Alaa Jaber, Managing Director for SAP Fast Growth Markets.
