OQ to Provide 100 International Scholarships under Oman Scholars Programme

May 12, 2026

Muscat, 12 May 2026 - OQ, the global energy investment group, and OQ Trading have signed an agreement with Takatuf Oman to provide 100 international scholarships under the Oman Scholars programme over five years, with 20 scholarships awarded annually.

OQ Group’s sponsorship of the programme comes in support of preparing national talent equipped with the skills and knowledge required to contribute to a knowledge-based economy. It also builds on the long-standing partnership between OQ and Takatuf Oman in human capital development, through the provision of educational and professional pathways aligned with labour market needs and the rapid transformations taking place across economic and developmental sectors.

On this occasion, Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Lawati, Chief People and Technology Officer at OQ, said: “Investing in national talent is one of the fundamental pillars of OQ’s long-term direction. Through the Oman Scholars programme, we continue to provide education and development opportunities that contribute to preparing national cadres with the skills and expertise required to keep pace with future changes and support the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.”

The Oman Scholars programme contributes to building national intellectual capital by preparing Omani students with advanced scientific skills and global academic experience. Students enrol in academic specialisations of national priority, aligned with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, while gaining experience in international research and academic environments. This contributes to supporting the knowledge economy and enhancing national scientific capabilities.

Since its launch, the programme has supported 122 male and female students through OQ and its subsidiaries. Among its graduates, 67 are currently employed within OQ Group, while 10 others hold positions in institutions outside the Sultanate of Oman, reflecting the programme’s role in developing nationally competitive talent capable of contributing across various sectors.
